Seems like a simple question . . . but. . . What do you put on sweet potato fries? Some people will dip them in honey butter. However, if you are eating at Artisans Grill. . . how about trying them with some Banana Ketchup!

What you say? Never heard of it? Not many people in Page County VA probably know what it is. Actually the proper name is Jufran Banana Sauce.

Jufran Banana Sauce

Banana ketchup or banana sauce is a popular Filipino condiment made from mashed banana, sugar, vinegar, and spices. Its natural color is brownish, so it is often dyed red to resemble tomato ketchup. Banana ketchup was made when there was a shortage of tomato ketchup during World War II, due to lack of tomatoes and a comparatively high production of bananas.

Ingredients in Jufran are water, sugar, banana, salt, modified starch, spices, sodium benzoate as preservative, citric acid, onion powder, garlic powder, artificial color. It is a product of Philippines.

So the next time you are in Artisans Grill, give it a try. You will be pleasantly surprised.
